About Talent ID Combines

Talent ID Combines are designed for players at the competitive level of the Junior Golf Pathway who have both regional and provincial competition schedules. These players have established a tournament scoring average and are looking to focus on improving their golf skills through training and full-round athletic improvement.

Through participation in a Talent ID Combine you will become part of a national talent ID pool. Through a series of testing, junior golfers can assess their skills and weaknesses on the golf course. Test scores and data collected are entered into a national pool that will allow coaches to analyze and assess the junior’s skill levels in comparison to other athletes in the province and country, and to be able to provide feedback on their individual results.

Testing Details

Testing will include assessments of ball speed, putting, short game, approach shot and physical movement tests.
  • Ball speed tests will cover maximum effort and average ball and club head speed.
  • Putting tests will assess the participant’s skills putting from distances ranging from 3 to 20 feet.
  • Short game testing will gather data on the participant’s distance control in their short game. Assessing both their carry and total distance through a variety of short-distance shots.
  • Approach shot testing will resemble the short game testing, but based on longer distances (around 100-150 yards).
  • The physical movement tests aim to assess an athlete’s strength and mobility through a series of assessments of power, balance, and body mobility.
Each athlete will receive a follow-up report after the combine, which will include an in-depth report and analysis using the benchmark of provincial averages.
